Stage 6 2021: dropping anchor

11/03/2021

From Castelraimondo to Lido di Fermo

After clearing the Apennines, the peloton finally catches sight of the Adriatic coast.

Stage six feels like dropping anchor at last – the route like a rope that is pulled tight across the hinterland, and finally tied into a double closing circuit along the seafront in Lido di Fermo. As if the race wanted to make sure it has reached its landing place.

Five days after the kick-off, the journey is almost over, and this could be a great opportunity for sprinters.

But the grand finale, with the closing ITT in San Benedetto, is yet to come.

Catching a glimpse of the sea from the inland is always a stunning and exciting experience.
