Lido di Camaiore, Land of Time Trialists: Tirreno Adriatico 2026 Starts Here

02/02/2026

The bond between Lido di Camaiore and Tirreno Adriatico is nothing short of unbreakable. The 2026 edition will once again roll out from here – for the twelfth consecutive time. A record that has long been out of reach for any other city or town: only Sorrento comes close, having hosted the opening stage six times between 1997 and 2002. Every year, however, writes a new chapter in the history of the Race of the Two Seas. The last time the Tirreno didn’t start in Lido di Camaiore was 2014, an edition won by Alberto Contador, which opened with the Donoratico–San Vincenzo stage.

Lido di Camaiore is one of the most renowned seaside resorts in Versilia, developed between the late 19th and early 20th centuries as Camaiore’s natural outlet to the sea. Unlike many historic coastal towns, Lido was conceived as a modern resort, defined by a long sandy beach and some of the widest, best-equipped beach facilities in the area. Its seafront boulevard – now the beating heart of the town – is the result of a major urban redevelopment that reinforced Lido’s image as an elegant yet accessible holiday destination. Behind the shoreline lies the residential area, while the Apuan Alps rise in the background, reminding visitors of the deep connection with the inland territory.

And the seafront will once again set the stage for the battle for the first Maglia Azzurra of Tirreno Adriatico 2026, decided over an 11.5 km individual time trial, as has been the case since 2022, with recent editions marked by Filippo Ganna’s supremacy as well as a win by Juan Ayuso.

The course is completely flat, tailor-made for pure specialists, and technically straightforward. The only key point comes at Fumetto, 5 km into the effort, where the intermediate time is taken before riders turn back toward Lido di Camaiore.

The first Maglia Azzurra will be decided purely on watts.
