Stage 1 2021: circuits for everyone

15/02/2021

From Lido di Camaiore to Lido di Camaiore

The opener of the 2021 Tirreno-Adriatico kicks off from, and homes in, Lido di Camaiore. After 156 km, it is likely to come down to a bunch sprint.

We will still be early in the season, though. Rested and refreshed, many may be eager to take their first pedal strokes, and some might try to jump ahead of the peloton, just in case.

The stage route features two circuits: the first one is to be raced three times, and the second one is included (nearly) three times.

All amateur cyclists have their tailor-made circuits. They create multiple ones near home over the years, based on the surrounding terrain and on their time availability. There, they can test their legs early in the season, they can check their time when they feel on peak form – when cutting two seconds down to the top of their favourite climb makes them feel like Nibali, if only for a while.

What is your favourite circuit? You never really know… it may feature in the route of Tirreno-Adriatico someday.
