Happy Heppy

Michael Hepburn, known in the peloton as “Heppy”, became the first leader of the 54th edition of Tirreno-Adriatico as he took his team Mitchelton-Scott to victory in the opening team time trial in Lido di Camaiore. Last on the road, the Australian squad beat the time of hot favorites Team Jumbo-Visma by seven seconds. Team Sunweb rounded the podium with a deficit of 22 seconds.

Tirreno-Adriatico NamedSport: Two Seas, One King

On the eve of the start of the 54th Tirreno-Adriatico NamedSport, five of the biggest names in racing spoke about their ambitions and expectations: Geraint Thomas, Tom Dumoulin , Vincenzo Nibali , Primoz Roglic  and Julian Alaphilippe. The Corsa dei Due Mari (Race of the Two Seas) starts tomorrow with the 21.5km Team Time Trial at Lido di Camaiore.

2019 Tirreno-Adriatico – the champions vs the ‘walls’

The provisional entry list for the 54th Race of the Two Seas is announced today with many of the best names in cycling: Thomas, Nibali, Dumoulin, Pinot, Roglic, Landa and Adam Yates as ‘traditional’ GC contenders; Sagan, Van Avermaet, Alaphilippe, Wellens, Benoot and Dennis hunting for hilly stages and TTs; Viviani, Gaviria, Nizzolo and Bouhanni for the sprints – and plenty of others.

Wild Card gare UCI WorldTour 2019

RCS Sport has today announced its selection of wild card teams that will participate at four out of its five UCI WorldTour races: Tirreno-Adriatico NamedSport, Strade Bianche NamedSportMilano-Sanremo NamedSport and Giro d’Italia.

Tirreno-Adriatico 2019: where innovation meets tradition

Two traditional Time Trials (Stage 1 is a TTT in Lido di Camaiore, and Stage 7’s ITT is in San Benedetto del Tronto), two sprinters’ stages and two hilly stages with short punchy climbs and many ‘walls’ are the recipe for the 54th edition. Total vertical elevation of the race is 9,000m. Matelica-Jesi will be the Wine Stage, celebrating Verdicchio, the renowned white wine produced in the Le Marche area.

Kwiatkowski crowns it all!

For the overall victory, Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) fended off Damiano Caruso (BMC Racing Team) to become the first Polish winner of Tirreno-Adriatico one year after he claimed Milan-Sanremo.
